The CREATE Institute is Seeking Teaching Assistants Applications are now being accepted for Teaching Assistant (TA) positions in Years 1, 2 and 3 classes for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Who we are: The CREATE Institute is a three-year training program in Expressive Arts Therapy. Since 1991, CREATE has been training students in downtown Toronto and is recognized by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). CREATE's curriculum immerses students in an intensive, arts-based educational process that supports clinical and professional development while fostering personal and creative growth. The program combines theoretical, experiential, and practical learning in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Are graduates of The CREATE Institute or an equivalent training program.

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or facilitator in post-secondary education.
Clinical experience as an Expressive Arts Therapist.
Responsibilities: Teaching Assistants play an important role in supporting faculty and students throughout the academic year. Responsibilities include:
Attending weekly 3-hour classes, arriving early and remaining afterward as needed.
Supporting an inclusive and effective learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles.
Assisting with student accommodations as needed.
Supporting student understanding of course objectives, attendance expectations, evaluation processes, and deadlines.
Assisting with class administration, including attendance tracking, sign-up sheets, and communication with students.
Supporting instructional activities, including facilitating discussions, small-group work, Centre Set-Up, Land Acknowledgements, and ABSAs.
Maintaining familiarity with weekly readings and course materials.
Acting as a liaison between students and instructors when appropriate.
Providing limited support to students outside class through phone or virtual meetings when needed.
Assisting with student assignments and learning activities as requested by faculty.
Ideally attending Community Weekends and supporting weekend programming.
Assist in set-up & clean-up* before and after each class, as well as general oversight of the Studio space and supplies.
*Clean-up at the CREATE Studio includes but is not limited to: tidying and sweeping; management of recycling and waste after class. Specific duties may vary according to the needs and teaching style of individual faculty members.
Compensation
Honorarium of $1250 per academic year ($625 per term)
Teaching Assistant hours may also be applied toward Arts-Based Hours requirements for graduation.
