4 i) CREATE Class Cancellations or Closures Due to faculty absence/a pandemic lockdown and/or adverse weather conditions:
Class cancellations may occur due to severe weather, instructor illness, or other circumstances beyond the school’s control.
Severe Weather:
Decisions regarding class cancellations or changes due to extreme weather will follow advisories issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada and the City of Toronto. Notifications regarding cancellations or a shift to online classes will be communicated by 9:00 a.m. for morning classes and 2:00 p.m. for evening classes via email to all students.
Students are expected to prioritize their safety when travelling to and from campus. If a student is unable to attend due to unsafe travel conditions, they should notify their instructor as soon as possible. Absences resulting from severe weather conditions in regions outside the school’s area will be counted as regular absences.
Instructor Illness or Cancellation:
Instructors who are ill or unable to conduct a scheduled class should notify Administration as soon as possible to allow for timely communication with students and teaching assistants (TAs). The instructor should also email their students directly regarding the cancellation or change.
For extended instructor absences, the Directors will coordinate appropriate contingency plans to minimize disruption to students.
Make-Up Classes and Online Instruction:
Where appropriate, classes may transition to an online format. Alternatively, missed classes may be rescheduled as in-person make-up sessions, as determined by the faculty and approved by the school.
