DAVID YEH (he/him; MA, CAGS, RP) is a registered psychotherapist with over twenty years’ full-time experience working with children, youth and adults in downtown Toronto. David holds his MA in social psychology from Queen’s University, trained at the European Graduate School for Expressive Arts Therapy in Saas Fee, Switzerland, and completed his advanced certification in Trauma Therapy at the SickKids Learning Institute.
As a therapist, David draws on a combination of theoretical orientations and modalities including Expressive Arts Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy. For decades, he has worked in collaboration with diverse healthcare providers (psychiatrists, physicians, addiction counselors, family counselors, social workers), in multidisciplinary, community-based settings. Through single-session, short and long-term individual therapy and groupwork, David specializes in working with clients with sexual and gender identity issues, in addition to his extensive experience supporting clients struggling with trauma, anxiety, stress and burnout, depression, low self-esteem, body-image, neurodivergence and relationship issues. David identifies as an integrative arts-based psychotherapist who centers a humanistic, trauma informed approach within an anti-oppressive framework.
As a community-based educator, David has facilitated extensive psycho-ed workshops and trainings on anti-oppressive practice, cultural sensitivity, sexual and gender identity issues, healthy relationships, self-care and wellness. Since 2023, he has been a core faculty member at Toronto’s CREATE Institute. As a cisgender man who is queer-identified, able-bodied, and Canadian-born Chinese – David is mindful of the diversity and complexity of both clinicians’ and clients’ unique positionalities and lived experiences. He believes cultural sensitivity and rigorous clinical engagement can always be balanced with playfulness, joy and humour.
As a clinical supervisor, David’s approach is empathic, non-judgemental, affirming and compassionate. His goal is to create a collaborative, insight-oriented space drawing from supervisees’ wisdom, experience, and unique vitality. As your clinical supervisor, David would be humbled and excited at the opportunity to help guide and strengthen your practice and professional development – exploring and growing together.
