The CREATE Institute Centre for Expressive Arts Therapy Education
The CREATE Institute offers a training program for Expressive Arts Therapists from mid-September through mid-May.
Note: The CREATE Institute has applied for recognition to the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Many of our graduates have been accepted as Registered Psychotherapists (R.P.). Acceptance as an R.P. enables practitioners to use the title Psychotherapist and to practice in accordance with the controlled act.

What is Expressive Arts?
Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA) is a way of using the arts to help people with a variety of challenges; whether they be psychological, emotional, behavioural, or associated with life traumas, relationships or transitions. By engaging in play and the arts, we are taken into the world of the imagination, where possibilities can be seen that are not evident in our daily lives. 3-Yr Expressive Arts Therapy Training Program
This is an ongoing application process, in which we interview applicants on a first-come-first-served basis, from February to the summer, until we have filled the first year class with suitable candidates.
The program is designed to immerse students in an intensive, arts-based educational process that is beneficial for their professional development as expressive arts therapists, as well as for their personal and creative growth. THE CREATE CLINIC Low Cost Expressive Arts Therapy
The Create Student Clinic provides affordable expressive arts therapy to children, youth, adults, couples and families from diverse backgrounds in the greater Toronto area. The fee is $40.00 per session.
The student therapy clinic operates from the core principles and theory of expressive arts therapy taught at The Create Institute which includes using play and imagination to support one’s life struggles. Art making in relationship is at the heart of our approach to therapy.
